    Hi Joe,
Thank you for this site. It’s has many helpful tips.

I keep finding the same stories published by multiple sources. Any tips on where to find more out of the box stories?

Yes, the big news stories are usually covered by many media outlets.

For stories that are less widely reported, you can search for “Odd News,” which will lead you to websites like this one:
      https://www.upi.com/Odd_News/

This website has also been used by professional writers of topical jokes looking for Odd News stories:
      https://www.fark.com/

Odd News stories are a particularly useful resource on days when all the big stories are about tragedies and are hard to write jokes about.

Thank you so much! I’m adding those websites to my list. Have a great rest of your day!

I Love your book and your site is awesome. Do you have suggestions on having a website to help with getting writing business? My website is okay but would love to make adjustments to make it better.

Also if you woke up tomorrow and had no connections, no money and no one knew your name, and you could only make a living as a writer, how would you develop your writing career from that point?

Thanks for everything. You are awesome!

Thanks very much for your kind comments!

The question of how to use one’s website to build one’s business is a big one; many books have been written about the subject and there are lots of tips online. I recommend just diving into those resources and adjusting your website as they recommend, or paying someone to do it. The great news is, you already have a website, which many comedy writers don’t have.

Chapter 15 of my book contains most of what I know about developing a writing career. Since you already have an online presence, also build on that to publicize your material and your talent.

Best of luck and have fun!

Thanks for your great blog. I unfortunately clicked on one of the links while I was at work and was stunned to see a certain picture of Kim Kardashian. Perhaps, if it wouldn’t be too much trouble, you could label some of your blog posts as NFSW.

Thanks for your suggestion, Angelo. I’ve added an NSFW notation to the blog post featuring Kim K. on that magazine cover.

Are there any other blog posts that you think should include a heads-up for readers?

    Joe,
Love your sense of humour! Your job looks awesome. I’ll keep reading your blog as inspiration as I move forward on my modest writing career.
    Best in the future.
    Randall

Hi, Randall! Thanks for your kind words and for checking out my website. Needless to say, you’ll find lots more of my advice about comedy writing in my book. Best of luck to you, too!
